History – Culture

One of the principles of Agricologiais based on what used to be known as “periurban agriculture”, a type of agriculture formerly practised on the outskirts of towns and villages that, with the passage of time, has all but disappeared. The advantages afforded by this type of agriculture are borne out by scientific studies and include benefits in health and in the prevention of malnutrition, benefits in terms of social impact, advantages for the producer, plus additional external benefits such as: alternative employment and a heightened awareness of the environment, land use, landscape embellishment and surplus water absorption.

“…Agriculture is man’s true destiny. In the early history of all the Peoples of the World each individual cultivated a piece of land; and those peoples were powerful, healthy, rich, wise and happy as long as they preserved the noble simplicity of customs that is the natural consequence of a permanently occupied life, which is a true safeguard against all vices and ills…”

Manuel Belgrano
